In Genesis Chapter 2:7 It says that God formed man out of the dust of the earth, and breathed life into his nostrils. If you read from the beginning of the bible you find that when God created the heavens and the earth he spoke and it was created. He spoke and the mountains were formed, He spoke and the seas where set their limit. He spoke and plants and animals came forth. He spoke it all into existence. But when it came to mankind, it was far more personal. God used His hands and He shaped, molded and formed us out of the dust of the earth. He then took it a step further and breathed life into us. Certainly the God of all creation could have just as easily spoke us into existence like He did when He set the stars in the sky, and hung the planets on nothing....But He didn't, from the very beginning God is showing us He loves us. He loves us so much that He was physically involved in our creation were everything else was commanded into existence.
We see it again in the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The accounts of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour who was prophesied about in Isaiah Chapter 40. God sent is only begotten Son to die on the cross for our sins, that we may be redeemed by the blood of His sacrifice. Could God have done it another way? That is an argument in and of itself, but I believe that He could. He is God after all. But He chose this way. It was far more personal. More involved. It seems that He chose to come down in the form of a man because just only ol' way wouldn't do. Just like just speaking us into existence just wasn't enough. Like telling someone you love them for the first time on an answering machine, it's just not as good as face to face...
So Jesus came to earth and died for the sins of mankind. God was physically involved in our redemption. Personally involved in making a way for us to connect once again with Him, just like before the fall of man. The reason why? His Love. His Love for us is what provoked God to form us with His own hands. His Love is what provoked Him to send His Son to save us. His Love is what lifts us up when we fall. His Love is why He spoke in Jeremiah 29:11 the promise of a plan and purpose for our lives, that we should have a future and a hope. His Love is what has kept me through all of the hardest of times. His Love is what has healed me time and time again. And it's because of His Love that we have Grace to be forgiven.
The best part of all is that His Love is for everyone. It says in Ephesians 2:8 that we have been saved by grace through faith, and not by works. No one is too far gone. Nothing anyone has done is enough to make them unworthy of His Love, and the gift of redemption through the sacrifice of His Son. There is found in Jesus the grace, mercy, peace, joy, life and wholeness that everyone at one time or another so very much desires. You will find it in His Love.
