So today was the most amazing October day I've ever had the pleasure to experience. I'm no weather man, but some sort of warm air current hit us like nobody's business bring one last taste of summer's sweet serenity in the midst of the lovely colors of fall. An opportunity like this arises in Washington only once in a lifetime, so I skipped out on the the gym and took a walk both around my neighborhood and through the gorgeous Al Borlin Park located just north of the Lewis street bridge here in Monroe. I hope all of you got a chance to get out there and thoroughly enjoy this day that the Lord has made! If this is global warming, bring it on Al Gore!
About 45 minutes east of Monroe lies a tiny speck of a town known as Bering. This little town is nestled comfortably in the middle of the lower cascades. There are an amazing number of hikes found just east of Monroe, one of the more famous being Wallace Falls in Gold Bar. Some of these are extremely easy, like Barclay Lake. But some of the scenery is truly stunning. Of course there are more difficult hikes out there too. If you are looking for something fun to do, whether you have kids or not, you can find a fun day hike in our neighboring cascade mountians.
